A AUNP Update on Wage Freezes
August 3, 2022
Hello, AUNP Members,
The AUNP Board is pleased to report that Alberta Health Services (AHS) and Covenant Health (CH) have reversed their initial decision to exclude NPs from salary restraint compensation.
This reversal is a direct result of the rigorous advocacy efforts of the AUNP. A big thanks goes out to our labour advisor, David Froelich, and to Ed Picard, AUNP’s legal counsel, for their guidance on the language and content of our numerous appeal letters to both AHS and CH.
Because the employers have reconsidered their approach to NPs regarding the wage freeze, all eligible NPs will be receiving an increment adjustment retroactive to April 1, 2022. This retroactive payment and increment adjustment will be processed for the August 15 – 28, 2022 pay period and will appear on the September 7, 2022 pay advice statements.
In addition, AHS and CH have expressed a desire to include NPs as eligible employees who will be provided a day in lieu of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. These days in lieu will be retroactive to September 20, 2021 and will be based on the individual NP’s status as of that date.
AUNP continues to advocate for the best interests of NPs across AHS and CH, and we will continue to manage issues as they present themselves. All topics related to salary, benefits, and other working conditions are part of the ongoing bargaining process currently in progress.
If you have questions regarding AUNP’s activities on your behalf, please reach out to us at [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected]. Our team will bring forward any concerns directly to the most appropriate individual. We look forward to hearing and incorporating your feedback as we build our unified approach to advocacy.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support for your AUNP.
